Senior Michael Maiorano of South Medford High in Oregon finished fifth in the boys 5-kilometer championship race at the Eastbay Cross Country West Regional at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Maiorano clocked 15:16 to join Tyrone Gorze of Crater, Caleb Lakeman of Tualatin and Charlie North of Franklin among four Oregon male qualifiers after the state produced three in 2019. It marked the first time Oregon has sent four male athletes to the national meet in the same year and they will compete Dec. 11 at the Eastbay National Championships at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego, Calif.
